Brice Oligui Nguema Secures Presidential Victory in Gabon’s Landmark Election

Libreville, Gabon – April 14, 2025 — Gabon's transitional leader, General Brice Oligui Nguema, has officially won the country's presidential election, marking a significant moment in the nation's political journey.

Nguema, who assumed power in a military-led transition following the ousting of former President Ali Bongo Ondimba in 2023, garnered widespread support for his promises of reform, stability, and national unity.

Provisional results announced by the national electoral authority indicate a decisive victory for Nguema, with a strong voter turnout across the country. Supporters took to the streets of Libreville in celebration, waving national flags and chanting pro-reform slogans.

In his victory speech, Nguema emphasized the importance of national reconciliation and vowed to work towards economic revitalization, improved governance, and greater transparency. “This win is not just mine—it is a victory for every Gabonese citizen who dreams of a stronger, fairer, and more united Gabon,” he declared.

International observers have praised the relatively peaceful conduct of the election, though they called for continued vigilance to ensure democratic principles are upheld during the post-election transition.

Nguema’s rise to the presidency is viewed by many as a turning point in Gabonese politics, offering a new direction for a nation long dominated by a single political dynasty.
